THE FIRST THING TO DO TO BRING AI INTO YOUR COMPANY IS BUY NOTHING

The place to bring artificial intelligence into your company is the job somebody redoes, identical, every Monday morning. Time it. How many people do it? How many hours it takes? How many errors come out? If you don’t have that number before, you will never know afterwards whether it was worth anything.

Then pick one process, not the department that shouts the loudest, the one that has the numbers. Quotes to prepare, customer service emails, meeting minutes, invoice checks. Boring stuff, repetitive. And if it gets something wrong, nobody goes home.

Before you open any tool at all, decide what can leave the building and what can’t. In writing, client names, prices, contracts, personnel data. Then either the contract says in black and white that they don’t train on your data and you cannot trust it completely. Or that piece runs on a machine of yours, inside your walls. If you follow me, you know that I work with governments, I help with AI strategy, I work with national cyber security agencies. So it’s very important having, for people like me, a local AI. Because the only way to keep data inside that do not let them leave is working only in a local thing.

And then hand the AI in companies to the people who already do the job, not a task force of managers. Those who have never filled in a quote in their lives, two weeks, and whoever uses it writes down what worked and what didn’t. Everything that goes out with a company name on it gets signed by a person. If the machine gets it wrong, the responsibility stays right there.

And then measure again. Same stopwatch, same error count. If the time hasn’t gone down, you switch it off and you change process. No drama. That’s the step almost nobody takes, because admitting it didn’t work costs more than renewing the subscription.

And training is not the course in the meeting room with the slides. It’s sitting down with the real documents, the real cases, and working through them together. And then you choose the tool at the end. It’s the easy part, trust me. And it’s the part that keeps changing anyway.

And one more thing. While you are deciding, your employees have already brought artificial intelligence into the company. From their phones, on their free accounts. And nobody knows what they pasted into it this morning. It doesn’t come in when you decide. It comes in first. All you decide is whether you know about it or not.

What do you think?
