IF CLAUDE DOESN’T ALREADY KNOW YOU, NO PAGE YOU PUBLISH WILL SAVE YOU

86% of brands Claude pulls out of its own head, before it even goes looking online, land straight in the final answer. Nobody named them in the question. It brought them in itself.

A company that sells monitoring tools, Searchable, looked at around 90,000 sources used by AI in July. Someone asked for the cheapest recruiting software for agencies and Claude already starts with three names in mind. Then it searches and the search mostly serves to confirm the list it already had.

When it searches, because it’s not always, “Best CRM 2026”, it goes looking nine times out of ten. “Zendesk versus Intercom”, one time out of seven. “How do I choose a CRM”, one out of 34. The more the question looks like a real buying decision, the less it looks at the web.

And when it looks, it doesn’t look where you think. 63% of pages it opens match Brave’s results. Google stops at 34%. So 10 years of work on your Google ranking, to end up in somebody else’s index. Inside the first 10 results, position counts for almost nothing. The third gets read as much as the eighth. The eleventh, it has never opened. Whoever pays to climb from seventh to third, for Claude, is paying to stand still.

Your site works at half power. When Claude opens a page on your domain, it uses it 31.6% of the time, ChatGPT 60.9%, a piece from the national press, it keeps 52% of the time, and forums like Reddit, 8.3%.

The best part is written in their own document. The people selling the monitoring admit that the monitoring, theirs included, only measures the questions where Claude goes searching. The minority. On everything else, the dashboard is blind.

On local, it’s even worse. Every time they tried a “near me” question, Claude worked out the location from the time zone and answered London. Always London. So if someone sells you a local visibility score on Claude, ask them which city they think you’re in. When they answer London, you already know what the other numbers in that dashboard are worth.

What do you think?
